Barbell Clean & Push Press

How do you get 70 pounds safely overhead? You utilize one of the most under-appreciated, highly-effective exercises- The Barbell Clean & Push Press. You rarely see it performed in the gym, and if you do, it is done incorrectly. However, my client, Linda does it well.

The key points are: drive the barbell with the hips and shrug it with your shoulders. Keep the torso relatively straight and keep the bar close to your body. Catch the bar on front of your shoulders by pushing your elbows forward and keep your hips back. "Push" the bar with another hip drive to assist your arms as they press the barbell overhead. Keep your torso tight and your shoulder blades pulled up to the ceiling as you stabilize the bar overhead.
