Testimonials

I began working with Dan during the summer of 2008 at the suggestion of a friend. As a runner, I knew I could benefit from strength training a few times per week, but had run out of exercises on my own and was bored in the gym. I have worked with other trainers in the past and had good results, so I was excited to see what I could learn from Dan. His training philosophy is quite different from my past strength training experiences, but it didn’t take long to become a convert. Over the past 2 ½ years, with a small hiatus for baby boy #4, Dan has consistently worked with me to improve my overall strength and agility while taking great care in teaching proper technique. As a result of spending a few short hours in the gym each week, I have become a stronger, faster and more knowledgeable runner. I can honestly say that I am in the best shape of my life and look forward to continued improvement.

To anyone out there who has ever had to deal with chronic pain induced by over-training, or improper exercise technique, please take a moment to read this. I've known Dan Hubbard for five years.  I watched him train individuals and groups of people at the gym. I occasionally asked him for advice on proper exercise technique. He had always been so helpful and approachable, very non-threatening.

I have worked very hard over the last 12 years to be able to call myself a runner.  Even with kids and a busy schedule, I wake up early every day to hit the pavement and log 20-30 miles per week, year around. I'm not a natural born runner. In fact, I have had to work on my stride and constantly battle chronic aches and pains.  I have had plantar fasciitis with throbbing heal pain for 18 months, a torn hamstring  that I nursed for 2 years, and finally fractured my fibula when I rolled my ankle last summer. I started seeing a great physical therapist weekly, visited the chiropractor twice a month, and still, had to grit my teeth through my ten mile runs on the weekends. The physical therapist said that a large part of my problem was due to muscle imbalances. I convinced my husband to allow me to discuss a program with Dan.  Dan was very knowledgeable, helpful, and very patient with my many questions.  After working with Dan for three months, my perspective on training and nutrition has changed.  He has taught me the importance of rest and recovery,  listening to my body, and training efficiently.

Through Dan's direction I am building physical strength, muscle balance, core stability, and emotional confidence.  Most of all, I am running pain free! With his help, and a wonderful support group of woman,  I am fit and healthy for the first time in a very long time.  My running feels good and plan on keeping it up for a long, long time.
