I have talked a lot about getting stronger and improving dynamic posture and alignment to help you move better in sports or just everyday life. Janet, an avid runner started training with me a couple months ago after developing patella-femoral syndrome. I discussed this in a previous posting. The first day she could not run, walk down a step or perform a body-weight lunge without significant pain in her knee. Today, she reported running and lunging pain-free! This is great news because she still has so much more potential to become stronger and more athletic.
Many more runners could benefit from strength training and enhanced dynamic posture, but think strength training is bodybuilding. They think that if they strength train they will get big, bulky, slow, and stiff. This is the furthest thing from the truth, as evident with Janet, but unfortunately, bodybuilding still pervades the mainstream media and commercial gyms.
If you or someone you know is a runner and want to enhance your running perfrormance while decreasing the incident of injuries, contact me to get assessed and get started on a strength-training program.
