Kettlebell Snatch Test

The kettlebell snatch is a great test of your endurance and conditioning. Simply perform as many snatches as you can in 10 minutes (beginners may start with 3-7 minute sets). The snatch test will tax your whole body muscular endurance, cardiovascular capacity, and mental toughness. However, your joints don't have to absorb high forces (like running), you can rest intermittantly, and it is over in ten minutes. It can be tailored to various individuals by selecting an appropriate weight. Also, the length can be shortened for those of you who are not up for the 10-minute challenge.

A few of you have had the opportunity to work on the kettlebell snatch test (along with other 'tests' like burpees) with me. The ultimate goal is to get 200 snatches in 10 minutes. Many of you are using 8 or 12kg kettlebells. Once, you master the 200 reps, you can increase the weight. I, too, am subjecting myself to this training. Today, I performed 180 snatches in 10 minutes with the 20kg (44lb) kettlebell. I am close, but need to work on it some more. I will let you know when I get the 200 reps in 10 minutes. Also, will post clients who achieve the 200 rep goal (and their kettlebell size).

set out today to master the 18lb kettlebell. did 200 in 9:03...wasn't pretty, esp. at the end... last 10 were pretty sloppy and I was wiped out. A little sore to begin with from workout with Dan yesterday. Jen
