Steppin' Down

Although they look easy, step-downs or (modified)single-leg squats are much more challenging than they look. This is because they require great stability and joint mobility. Most people don't know they lack these qualities, even amongst "fit" individuals. This makes the the step-downs (or even more challenging, single-leg, full squats) one of the best tests of 'functional' leg strength, and hip, knee, and ankle health.
