Well it is that time of year now. Time for everyone to go crazy with their New Year's resolutions. As we know, just about everyone gives up or fails by March. Then, they are back at it again next January.
I don't have any health or fitness resolutions. I haven't for as long as I could remember. Why you ask? Because I figured out the secret years ago: enjoy the process. What ever you are doing, if you don't enjoy the process, you will never keep it up. Exercise training is no different. Do you think Peyton Manning dreads going early to football practice everyday? Doubt it.
Exercise training should be enjoyable, not a chore. A client recently thanked me for "helping her to enjoy working out." Thats it. No dramatic weight loss or body transformation. Just learning to appreciate and enjoy the process of proper exercise training makes life so much more enjoyable, fulfilling, and easy to do week in, week out.
Throw out the numbers, the calender, and your goal-oriented resolutions. Once you become process-oriented, succeeding becomes much easier.
